Cards To Compliment Your CC

All of us have credit cards and each of the CC have different benefits. Well there are several card out there that can compliment any CC.

One Card - this card is issued by 1 Utama Shopping Complex. If you frequent to 1U, this card is a must. The benefits are as follows:

  • Parking - I hate going to 1U after 12pm on weekends as it is damn hard to get a parking, but since I got the One Card, I have always got a parking space as there are Exclusive Parking Areas for members.

  • Every Ringgit you spend you get 1U Point which can be used for your next purchase/outlet like cash.
  • Up to 3rd May 2009, every RM100 spend at 1U One Card participating outlets gets you RM5 cash back.
  • Special offers and Exclusive Discounts. One Card occasionally have participating outlets giving special discount to its members. I have always wanted to get a GAP sweat shirt with hood but it cost RM295 and never on sale (I call GAP -Great and Powerful, my son calls it Gay & Pondan, hahaha), last weekend on 4th and 5th April, only One Card members get 30% discount on top of the cash back, so now I have a Great & Powerful sweat shirt.
  • One Card will email to you your statement and offers.
Only disadvantage is the 1U points have a expiry date.

ESSO/Mobil Smiles Card - this card is a must. It does not matter if you use Esso or Mobil, get this card as it is free.

This card can be used with any Credit Card and even Amex charged card at all Esso and Mobil stations. You will get points when you purchase petrol and groceries at Esso or Mobil stations. The benefit of this cards is that you can redeem RM15 of petrol for every 1000 Smiles Points. This is equivalent to 1.5% cash back and if you have Direct Access which gives you 2% cash back, the total cash back you will get for purchasing petrol from Esso/Mobil is 3.5%

Jaya Jusco J Card - this is another cards to get if you frequent Jaya Jusco.

I don't know what my wife spend at Jaya Jusco but every year I get cash back from Jaya Jusco. Just to note, Jaya Jusco J Card members day can save you lots of money. Once in  a year,  every Jaya Jusco outlet will have J Card Member's Day where you get additional discount on top of discounted price and RM10 voucher for every RM100 spend, that is like 10% cash back.

Not only I get cash back from Jaya Jusco, every RM1 I spend with my CC I also get 1 J Card Point and these points can redeem for cash vouchers.

Last year I bought a latest (at that time) LG LCD TV on J Card Members's Day and got 15% and RM190 worth of vouchers and only last month got RM100 voucher again from Jaya Jusco :)

Besides cash back from Jaya Jusco, this J card also have offers for pretty good hotels, food outlets and fashion outlets.

Bonus Link - all of us most probably subscribe to Astro and shop at Parkson. For Astro, you will get Bonus link points if you pay quaterly. So if you have auto debit with your credit card for your Astro, make sure you convert to quarterly payment to get Bonus Link points.

Was told that ESSO/MOBIL Card nowadays only earn Smile Points for fuel and no longer earn point for anything else. Previously when it was first introduced yes, points were given for groceries and buying engine oil or battery but no more.
