Maybank Premier Credit Card Customer Service

UPDATE FEB 2012 - Click here to my comprehensive review of the Maybank Visa Infinite Welcome Package, Benefits, Priority   Pass Membership Card, Starwood Privilege Card, MBB Premier Customer Service and Overseas Transaction Rates.

In my previous review of the Maybank Visa Infinite - 'The' Card To Go Around The World With I have shown you guys photos the welcome kit and listed some of the benefits of the Maybank Visa Infinite. In this said article, I mentioned that I applied for the Maybank Visa Infinite on 18th October 2011, received a SMS from MBB on 28th October 2011 informing me that the application has been approved and received my Maybank Visa Infinite credit card on 1.11.11 :)

See, the above dates have the No.1 and No.8 which I deemed to be prosperous and excellent numbers. In my article Hokkien No.8 No.9 at RWF, I have mentioned that No.8 means prosperous and everybody loves being No.1.

Those of you who have read my previous articles would know that I am into numbers for my cars' number plates and credit cards. Every time when I get a new card, I would get an adrenalin rush, the same kind of excitement I would experience while playing FREE Live baccarat, except that I am praying that the 16 digits card number would end with the number No.8, hahaha. And also foolishly keeping my American Express Gold Charge Card because it states member since 1988 :)

Well, today's article is a follow up on my MBB Visa Infinite articles; I did two, one before I got the card and one after I received it where I posted photos of the FREE passport holder as a welcome gift. If you have not read my first article on the MBB Visa Infinite, click here to read Maybank Visa Infinite - The Best Credit Card for Overseas.

Firstly, the Maybank Visa Infinite comes with a Complimentary Starwood Privilege Membership Card where we are get to enjoy dining privileges and special discounts on room rates at over 125 participating hotels and restaurants in Asia Pacific Region.

Starwood Membership dining benefits:
  • 1 For 1 Dining
  • 25% savings when you dine alone
  • 33% savings when you dine with two guests
  • 25% savings when you dine with three guests
  • 20% savings when you dine with four guests and above
Well, the Starwood Privilege card was sent to me two weeks after I received my Maybank Visa Infinite credit card. A LYN forummer informed about this at LYN, and therefore I was not surprised nor did I call Maybank Customer Service to enquire about the Starwood card.

A LYN Moderator was kind enough to further inform me to register as a Starwood Preferred Guest to enjoy more benefits like free internet at Starwood member hotels :) So read the brochure (shown in above photo) that comes with the card and go register as a Starwood Preferred Guest (which I have yet to do so, haha).

Secondly, the MBB Visa Infinite also comes with free Priority Pass Membership which allows us to enter worldwide airport lounges for FREE up to 5 times a year. Usually, when I get a new credit card that also offer the Priority Pass,  there will be a Priority Pass Membership application form together with the welcome package. We are required to fill the application form up and sent it to the respective bank that issued the credit card e.g. Citibank PremierMiles, Standard Chartered Bank Visa Infinite and Hong Leong Bank Visa Signature.

However, there was no such application form in my MBB VI welcome package. I thought it will be sent to me together with the Starwood card. But, that was not the case. So I called Maybank Premier Card Customer Service for the very first time (number different from Maybank Platinum 1800881801) and inquire about the Priority Pass Membership card. The representative asked if I received the application form inside the welcome package and I said no. He then said he can fax over the form to me immediately. So I went and set up the fax machine ( took me less than a minute to do so). However, upon setting up the fax, the same CS representative called me back to say that he won't be faxing the application form but instead he will arrange on his side for my Priority Pass Membership Card to be sent to me :) Great service I must say.

Below are my Priority Pass Membership cards issued along with my Maybank Visa Infinite, Standard Charted Bank Visa Infinite and Hong Leong Bank (Ex EON Bank) Visa Signature. Please note that the photo below have been doctored and the numbers are not mine (wish they were).

My teenage son is back for Christmas break and I wanted to get him a supplementary  Maybank Visa Infinite credit card too. I went to a Maybank branch to get the supplementary card application form, and the bank officer I spoke to was like blur. He gave me the impression that he did not even know that Maybank issued the Visa Infinite. He was looking at the computer screen for like 15 minutes, as if searching for something, so I told him never mind, I'll get the form from somewhere else.

So, once gain, I called up Maybank Premier Card Customer Service Toll Free Line and was greeted by a very courteous representative. Told him I wanted to get my son a supp VI card. I asked if I could just apply for it over the phone since my son also got the supp Maybankard 2 Platinum Cards from me. He said he could fax or email me the application form. So once again I chose by fax, and  was told that it will be faxed immediately. So, went and set up the fax. Immediately after I connected the phone line into the facsimile machine and switch on the power, got a call from the same representative. He told me since my son has a supp card from me and is in their system, he will arrange for the supp MBB VI card ( as requested ) on his side without me needing to fill up the application form :) And I can expect the card to be delivered to my doorstep in a week time.

From the above experience, I must say that I am more than satisfied with the service provided to me by the Maybank Premier Card Customer Service representatives. Not only are they friendly, they are  efficient and DO call me back immediately to give me good news.

Well, you may ask, what the hell the numbers I mentioned earlier in this article got to do with the Maybank Visa Infinite? Well, call me crazy or whatever you wish, but I feel that by me applying for the card on 18.10.11, getting a SMS from MBB on 28th October 2011 regarding the card approval and receiving the Maybank Visa Infinite card on 1.11.11 is no coincidence. What these numbers (No.1 and No.8, also see the doctored photo of PPM card number for the MBB VI) tells me is that the Maybank Visa Infinite is indeed going to serve me well and make me happy. I can confirm that it is going to be my No.1 credit card for my overseas transactions and with the superb customer service, I got a feeling it is going to be the No.1 credit card in my coming Top 10 Credit Cards for 2012 scheduled to be published in May 2012 :)

And just to update you guys, Hong Leong Bank just waived my HLB Visa Signature annual fee  without me needing to spend RM30K with it :) Get to keep the card for another year and foolishly pay the RM50 GST. I doubt I'll be using the HLB VS much because the Maybank Visa Infinite 2X TP local local spending and 5X TP for overseas spending is way better versus the Hong Leong Bank Visa Singature 1.5X Points for local spending and 2X Points for overseas. Actually, the Maybank Visa Infinite beats all cards ( maybe except MBB World MasterCard which earns the cardholder Treat Miles) for overseas spending with its 5X TP and lowest overseas admin fee.

[Update 6 January 2012] - Please click here to read about Maybank Visa Infinite Overseas Coversion Fee. After reading it, you'll know why we get 5X Treats Points with the Maybank Visa Infinite for  our overseas transactions.

  2. Chin Yit, I have actually shown all how I applied for the VI in my article titled Maybank Visa Infinite - The Best Credit Card for Overseas. Since I am a current MBB cardholder, all I had to do was call them and request for the card.
